How to pause the simulation and then resume it again?

I currently run a simulation. Due to the simulation takes a very long time, sometimes I want to pause it. But I don't know how to pause the simulation and then resume it again?
Could you mind telling me how to achieve it๏ผ

One option is to click "space barr" in the command prompt

Depending on your case @Lucy you could also look into if the restart command could work for you. See the documentation / google the forum. In this way you can also shut down your PC when not simulating.

How can I do it exactly so that I can restart and continue the simulation that I paused? Can you use examples/others/restart as an illustration?
