Unit of ComputeForces

Hello All,

I have a query regarding the unit of forces. After using ComputeForces command, the forces which we get has unit - N/m and not N.

Please guide on - Why we are dividing the force by length? and what is the physical significance of that length?

Thank you.

  • Hello

You will get this value N/m, when running a 2D simulation. This makes sense since you have one less spatial dimension. If it was 3D you would get N.

    Kind regards

  • Thanks @Asalih3d , I rechecked the data. I was earlier looking into 2D simulation and with 3D I am getting unit as N as expected.
