Restitution Coefficient

edited February 2017 in DualSPHysics_v4.0
Hello everybody,

instead of defining the restitution coefficient "e" (of the DEM-Model) in the "Definition.xml"-file, i would like to define "e" in "floating_materials". I use two different materials and for each material i defined one restitution coefficient "e".
Now,if two particles interact with eachother (one of material 1, one of material 2), the DEM model needs ONE restitution coefficient. Does anybody now, how DualSPHysics computes the new restitution coefficient?

Thanks!

  • i found the answer:
"e is taken as the average of the two materials coefficients" (p. 26, User Guide).

    Sorry for the circumstances!
