Center of floating object not calculated correctly

edited March 2016 in Old versions
(Apologies if this is a duplicate posting)

There appears to be a problem in GenCase_win64.exe.

Many of our models have floating objects for which we specify the center of gravity. It appears that GenCase modifies the specified center of gravity, replacing the z-coordinate with -g ("-9.81").

A side effect of this is that the "omegaini" properties are applied to the incorrect center of gravity.

Workaround: After running GenCase, hand edit the "center" property in the "particles" block so that it matches the "center" property in the "floatings" block.

Comments

  • Slight clarification: You need to edit the "center" properties in the "floatings" and "particles" sections of the *.xml file in the output folder using the "center" property from the *_Def.xml" input file.
