Pressure measurements with mdbc - what am I doing wrong?

Can anyone help point out where I'm going wrong? I'm basically just trying to verify hydrostatic pressure on a floating box 2m high with 0.5 relative density (to be used in wave conditions later). Along the edges of the bottom face of the box I'm getting realistic pressures (ie around 10,000Pa) but away from the edges at all on the bottom face I'm getting pressures half that whereas I'm expecting around 10,000Pa there as well.

In a 2D analysis everything seems as it should. I've tried measuring at points on the box boundary but also at -Dp/2 (as in the attached case) as I'm not clear which point I should be measuring with Mdbc.

I feel like I'm missing something and it's driving me crazy so any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Dave

  • Just an update if anyone is interested. I'm definitely getting better results measuring the pressure 1.5h away from the boundary. I thought using mDBC meant that was not necessary but either way it's good to see some more realistic numbers!
