questions about mDBC and collisions

Hello.

When I use mDBC method to do some simulation involving the collisions among floatings, there is a warning that their collisions should be solved using Chrono. May I ask why original DEM method can't be used to slove the collisions. And if I want to use the original DEM method combined with mDBC, what should I do?

Thanks in advance

  • Good question

@jmdalonso can reply here in terms of what options are implemented and can be or can not be used here

  • Note that collisions solver (2:DEM or 3:CHRONO) are independent on the use of mDBC for fluid-boundary interaction.

Therefore it should work without problems, that is only a warning.

Please if you try mDBC and DEM let us know if you find any issues

  • Thanks for your kind help. So far I haven’t found problems when trying mDBC and DEM. Glad to hear that’s only a warning.

  • I used the CHONO collision based on the mDBC boundary conditions, but an error message appeared: "Body with indicated Mk is not a moving body". I don't know which part of the MK does MK specifically refer to, floating boundary, moving boundary, or fixed boundary?
