Use of NVLink with multiple GPUs

It is my understanding that for the main branch of DualSPHysics, only a single GPU can be utilized to carry out the computation. My question is with regard to the hardware technology NVLink and its ability to link two cards as if they're one. I don't know all the ins and outs of how this works, so I figured I might ask the community if anyone has tried this or if they're currently doing this? If NVLink makes two cards appear as one, could we then run DualSPHysics on two cards to extend the computational performance? Are there software limitations that anyone is aware of? Again, just looking for advice before I attempt this route.
