Particle inhomogeneity at free surface

Hi,

I was wondering why I am observing a layer like structure at the free surface in a regular wave propagation? I have attached a plot

Is this expected and does it in any way influence the wave heights?

I have set dp, so that at least 10 particles are within one wave height. I do however, observe this for different discretizations.
