The running time decreases as the smoothing length increases

Hello everyone.

I noticed that the running time decreases as the smoothing length increases when running cases.

To verify this phenomenon,I changed the smoothing length of CasePistonDamping_REG from DualSPHysics_v5.0\examples\main\09_WavesPiston.The running time comes from the TSimul in Run.csv.The results are shown below.

As shown above,the running time decreases as the smoothing length increases.It's kind of weird since the number of neighbor particles increases,which calls for a large computational effort.

I would like to know if there are any points that I'm missing.Thank you!

  • Try with other examples such as DamBreaks where domain is not initially filled with water. And try also 2D and 3D... I hope you observe the correct trend in that way.
