single phase vs. multiphase flow inter particle distance

Is inter particle distance 'dp' value provided in the _Def.xml file always maintained for the fluid for single and multiphase simulations?

I found from dualsph literature that for multiphase flow sometimes void region can appear for fine resolution and Fick's first law of diffusion is used to shift particles to close that void. Does dp changes between particles for that mechanism?

What about for single phase flow? for any external body force acting on the fluid, gravity etc., does interparticle distance always keep constant?

Does dualsph allow particle accumulations if it allows variable dp and hence fluid blobs can form for a group of particles? Can you please explain?

In the published examples with dualsphysics released version, is there any tutorial with physics problem that demonstrate variable dp? or is it out of the SPH framework for both single and multiphase flow?
