Setmkvoid does not seem to remove all FreeDraw particles properly
Is this a bug?

I guess that mkvoid should be used also with freedraw options, otherwise it should not work

Unfortunately doing it using that does not work either. To test it is not working draw a solid cylinder with layers and pierce with a mkvoid cylinder, all using freedrawmode. It will work using regular non-freedraw mode, but FreeDrawMode is simply too good to use with mDBC, to let go off.
