mass or volume of particles

Hello,

a fundamental question! my examiner has asked me how the mass and volume of the particle are calculated in Dualsphysics. I could not find this info in the manual. Now, is the mass assigned to each particle? if yes, what's its value? or no, the volume of the particle is assigned to it and the mass is calculated based on volume and density? if this is the case, what is the formula for the volume of particles?

Thanks

  • XML_GUIDE_v5.0.pdf - Page 146

    rhop0 = density

    dp = initial particle distance

    Volume from:

    mass = rho*Vol --> Vol = mass/rho

    Kind regards

  • I guess one of the reasons that Dualsphysics gets more and more popular is the fast response people can get on the forum! So thanks a lot!

  • If we want to study the two-phase problem, how to set two different mass value?

  • You can manually calculate the mass and assign it to it (this method is recommended), or use relative density (the mass value will be calculated automatically, but you need to check before solving, because the calculated value may not be the same as what you want)
