Speed of sound along the simulation

Dear developer,

Good afternoon!

The literature informs that the speed of sound used in Tait's equation of state is a function of the maximum velocity of the fluid flow (variable with the time simulation).

Is there information on the initial cs and its evolution along with the simulation?

Thanks for your attention.

With best regards.

  • The speed of sound in DualSPHysics is taken as a constant, which is set initially. Its value should be 10 times the highest velocity in the flow, to ensure density variations of only ~1%.

It does not change over time in DualSPHYsics, but the automatic time stepping can potentially be lowered, if it detects particles which move to fast.

If I am wrong, I hope someone will correct me.

    Kind regards

  • Is this value available? As an output file, please?

    With Regards.

  • Dear colleague,

    Thank you for your response.

In my case, from the output file, I found cs = 3 m/s.

My fluid volume had an initial height of 0.13m.

    Thus, cs was too low.

In general, it is defined as 62 m/s at the beginning of the simulation.

    Thanks a lot.
