Coupling FDM/FVM and SPH model

Is there a way to couple FDM/FVM with SPH in dualsphysics.

  • 1. What is the purpose of such a combination? For which class of tasks?
    2. There are a lot of publications about a combination of fems and sph
    but I do not remember about/did not come across about coupling FDM/FVM with SPH
    3. You can supplement the existing DualSPHysics code with your developments

  • Theoretically, it is doable to couple SPH with FDM/FEM/FVM, you can google it.
  • There are many examples of coupling SPH-FEM and FVM-SPH.
    You can find many papers and SPHERIC proceedings about that.

    DualSPHysics is open-source, so you can couple it with FVM.

    I am trying to simulate New wave (Tromans 1991) and High Order Spectral method (Douglas G. 1987) to study steep wave impact loads on floating bodies.

    And I currently, looking for best way to simulate to efficiency to capture the loads on the body (If possible, also to save the computational cost).

    For now, I will try to couple the Swash and DualSPHysics.

    I am open for any additional methods or suggestions.

    In fact delegates of the http://dual.sphysics.org/4thusersworkshop/ will have access to a first beta version of that...

    During the http://dual.sphysics.org/4thusersworkshop/ we will give access to the attendees to download a beta version that includes:
    i) Coupling with wave propagation models (SWASH, Relaxation zone, etc)
    ii) Coupling with Project Chrono (Multi-physics)
    iii) Open boundaries (Inlet & Outlet)
