Angular Momentum Conservation

edited April 2017 in DualSPHysics_v4.0
Hi Everybody,

to simulate high nonlinear procedures like Splash-up, it is suggested to use CISPH which guarantuees conservation of angular momentum. Does anyone know about the physics of angular momentum conservation? I found a lot of papers about the implementation of these equation, but i don't understand the reasons why its important.
Thank you!

  • The "kernel gradient correction" proposed by Bonet and Lok, 1999 ensures to preserve linear and angular momentum.
However, in my opinion, the use of this high order corrections should be applied only if your applications cases really need this to obtain accurate results.
