How to use gauge measurements in the simulation itself ?

I have tried without success to use the gauge option to control a gate opening. The gate opening is a function of the water level upstream (e.g. like a reservoir).

Does anyone know how to use the measurements of a gauge to control a moving set of particles (i.e. fix mk) ?
